# Usage limits and Extra conversations

> Learn about the daily and weekly limits on assistant conversations, how to buy Extra conversations with coins, and what to do when you reach a limit.

The assistant is free to use, though there are daily and weekly limits on how much you can chat. To keep chatting after you reach a limit, you can buy **Extra conversations** with coins.

## How your usage is counted

As a rule, a conversation counts toward your limit once the assistant finishes its reply. This works the same way when you send a suggested question.

## Your free usage

* Your free usage has daily and weekly limits
* Subscribe to [emaqi premium](/app/emaqi-premium/what-is-emaqi-premium) for higher limits, currently 3x what you get without a subscription
* These limits may change

## When you reach a limit

If you send a message after reaching a limit, a dialog appears. Buy **Extra conversations** with coins there to continue the chat right away. To wait for your free usage to reset instead, close the dialog.

## What are Extra conversations?

**Extra conversations** are additional conversations you can use once your free usage runs out. Each purchase adds a set amount of conversations.

* Once your free usage runs out, Extra conversations are used automatically
* When your free usage resets, your free usage is used first again
* You can't buy more while you still have Extra conversations left. Once you use them up, you can buy again
* The amount you get is the same whether or not you subscribe to emaqi premium

## How to buy

You can buy Extra conversations in two places.

* **Add Conversations** in the dialog that appears when you reach a limit
* The card for adding conversations on the assistant settings screen

## How resets work

* Your free usage doesn't reset at a fixed time of day. It resets automatically one day and one week after you start chatting
* Extra conversations never reset. What you buy stays until you use it up
